Privacy Policy

The short version

Nothing you type or paste into a ToolBench tool — JSON, tokens, passwords, file contents, or anything else — is ever sent to our servers. All formatting, encoding, hashing, and conversion happens locally in your browser using JavaScript. This site does, however, use Google Analytics and Google AdSense, which collect some data about your visit as described below.

Data you enter into a tool

ToolBench's tools (the JSON formatter, base64 encoder, hash generator, JWT decoder, and every other tool on the site) run entirely client-side. The content you paste in never leaves your device — it isn't transmitted to us, logged, or stored anywhere. You can verify this yourself by opening your browser's developer tools, switching to the Network tab, and watching for outbound requests while you use a tool: there won't be any carrying your input.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, ToolBench uses third-party services that collect some data automatically:

• Google Analytics — collects information about how visitors use the site: pages viewed, approximate location (country/region level), device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site. This helps us understand which tools are useful and where to focus development effort. Google Analytics uses cookies to do this.
• Google AdSense — serves the ads on this site. Google and its advertising partners use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites, and to measure ad performance. This is sometimes called "personalized advertising."

We don't control what these third-party services do with the data they collect beyond what's described in their own privacy policies. See Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from sites that use its services for details.

Cookies

Cookies set by Google Analytics and Google AdSense are the only cookies used on this site — ToolBench itself doesn't set any (there's no login, no account, and no server-side state to remember). You can block or delete cookies through your browser's settings at any time; doing so may make ads less relevant but won't affect any tool's functionality, since the tools don't depend on cookies at all.

Your choices

You can opt out of personalized advertising from Google by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of many third-party vendors' personalized advertising through aboutads.info. Most browsers also let you block third-party cookies entirely in their privacy settings.

Children's privacy

ToolBench is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
